Le Violon d'IngresThe picture to the left is by Man Ray. The meaning of the title is derived from the idea of Ingres, the neoclassicist painter, being an equally talented violinist as he was painter, despite the fact that he was only famous for one of these qualities. 'Le Violon d'Ingres', therefore, is a phrase which can refer to someone's secondary skill - the one that they do as well as their primary pursuit.
Anyhow, in this blog I hope to create a secondary, extended discussion of the various topics which I cover throughout the English syllabus.
